ooc rant: Judge of Character. This part of the scene really bothers me, and I’m just feeling like I ought to say something. Even though I sort of don’t know why it bothers me, but let’s see if I can put it to words. See, Ashe pleads a stand-down of the Bhujerban forces. She begs for peace, using her voice. She receives a pat on the shoulder of consolation from Basch. Now. When Larsa did the same, requesting stand-down of Archadian forces, there was not only no pat, but he took it in stride, not crying about it afterward. My issue is that yes: Ashelia lost something horrible in the war: her father, her husband, and a whole slew of her people. But what did Larsa lose? Additionally, how old is he? Additionally again, what are his reactions? Even through Ashe’s hatred, Larsa persisted, while she hated and scorned everything that crossed her path, and still managed to whine about how terrible it is. Larsa? He must bow his head in sadness with no one to come by for consolation when he hears that yet another person close to him may lose his life (Zargabaath trying to knock the Bahamut to the side). Larsa lost his father, brother, 4 of the 5 Judges (one getting replaced), and because he is an Imperial, is hated on almost constantly throughout the game, even by Vaan at first, who thinks his secretive attitude is somewhat annoying initially. The moral of the story: Larsa — 12 years old and a more respectable person than Ashelia B’Nargin Dalmasca. Definitely not hating on Ashe, however; she’s a fabulous character with great strength of will. But I find this scene unceremoniously undignified to Larsa’s personage and who he is and how strong he is in comparison.
